Here is what you can expect when working with us!
Most of the infants and toddlers served by Birth to Three Developmental Center qualify for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These children have at least a 25% delay in one or more developmental areas including:
- Speech (communication)
- Physical
- Self-help (ability to help dress and feed self)
- Social-emotional
- Problem-solving skills (how a child learns)
Family Journey – Our Step-By-Step Care Process
Referral
Welcome
You will meet your Family Resources Coordinator who will help guide you every step of the way.
Evaluation and Family Assessment
Your child will be evaluated with information that you provide to determine if your child needs additional support and the types of services that will be most helpful.
Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)
Your team will help you develop a plan for services and measure progress towards the outcomes you set for your child and family.
Service Begins
You will meet with your Birth to Three team regularly and have opportunities to learn and get the support you need for your child to make progress on their outcomes.
Transition
Once your child reaches the age of three or completes the Early Support program, your Birth to Three team will help you decide the next steps for supporting their development.
Developmental Definitions
Cognitive: learning
Physical: moving, seeing, and hearing
Communication: understanding language and expressing needs
Social or Emotional: relating with others
Adaptive Skills: dressing, eating, and taking care of self
Supporting Families
Our approach to care is holistic. We assess each child’s individual needs, and create an Individualized Family Service Plan. We see the most success when families and caregivers are involved as much as possible. And we’ll be here the whole way, guiding you along!
